Anyway, just sitting here waiting for my new computer! It's been over three years since I've bought a new one and it's much over due. I put my last computer through quit a lot of stress; with all the viruses, world of warcraft, and traveling from place to place. It did me well for it's time, but as a geek I feel obligated to always have the biggest and best computer possible. Similar to car guys, who love drive really souped up cars on the streets. Mine is just a lot small, doesn't require a loan to own one, and has a little more practicality to it; but it does however, light up just like a street car and has way more power than I actually need. What can I say thou? I love me power house computers..... it's funny thou, the computer I just bought isn't really a "power house" like I want it to be, but it has more potential than my current one lying on ground right now =/.... that poor computer.

I know the feeling.I'm planning to get a laptop for school. I'm so excited to have something new. I am not computer oriented, however. I have no idea what to look for and I'm afraid the BestBuy people are going to take advantage of my naiveness. Any suggestions? You called yourself a "giant nerd". I'd love to have your knoweledge at a time like this.... Be loud and proud!
ReplyDeleteActually, I do have a few suggestions. First of all, DO NOT buy from Best Buy; unless you absolutely can't wait to get your hands on a new laptop. Second, what are you looking to accomplish with your laptop? Are you just wanting to complete homework assignments on it or play video games? Because a computer for finishing homework is going to be relatively cheap (any more than $500 is over kill) and a gaming computer ( the ones I like ) cost one pretty penny, take a lot of configuration, and are a pain in the ass to keep cool for all the extra power. Third, go to tigerdirect.com, newegg.com, or buy.com to buy a new laptop. There you can read reviews and get anything for a laptop or desktop you can imagine! They are usually cheaper and you're not pressured by sales people. Plus you can sign up for emails that will give you daily deals.
ReplyDeleteHere a just a few examples of what you can find.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=91264&Sku=S203-156108 (this one is even over kill for homework)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230060

Now, why these my be examples; they should be more than enough to get homework done. All of them are more powerful than my laptop that I complete homework. but, I really suggest signing up for emails from at least newegg and tigerdirect and wait for a good deal to come by.
I wish you the best of luck!
